'The Game of Childhood'
"Hurry up kids!!!!! Finish your homework if you want to go out to play"
I am sure almost everyone might have heard of this from their parents at some point of time in their childhood. Childhood and its golden moments are all about playing numerous games with their friends like hide and seek, chain-chain, maran pitti which has been popular not only in the regional areas but among city kids as well .
Well, before making the galli games
ki yaadein taaza, here is something to enhance your knowledge. You will be suprised to know that this game is not only played by today's children but has also been famous during the time period of ancient India when ‘The Shivaji Rao' existed.
Any guesses friends???.....It's none other than ‘Pithu Garam’. Did it clicks you now? I hope it’s not an ajnabhi word for you? Actually this game is played with some pebbles (the small pieces of Marbles/stones), a soft ball or tennis ball, which makes it really cheap. This gali game is opens for all the rural background children as well the urban city kid. A full entertaining game involves two to three groups of children or more which has no limits of the players in those groups and is selected tentatively by any kid only at the time of play. Now one group gathers the pieces/pebbles and makes them stand one upon one. And there is a keeper behind those mountains of pebbles. Where as the other group has the ball and he has to hit that mountain three times to make them fall, if he is able to do the pebbles fall, the third group players who have covered the area all between where the game is playing, collect that ball and hit that ball to the players of other teams because to whom they will hit, that group/team will not be able to make the pebbles fall and will be out. So at last the group who is able to make all peples fall and can rearrage them is declared winner at the end.And game has not any specific timings to over it, all just depends upon the players.
Well after going through this, some of our intelligent dudes( who hasn’t the experience of this game) may be taking it has complex and tough game but it isn’t and really gives fun which can't be expressed within words. For that you have to just collect the little pieces of stone/pebbles and a ball and make the choti si team of your friends and Enjoy!!! Waiting for what?? Go dude your galli is waiting for you………………Because there is a little child in all of us which should never be allowed to die.
